CNY : Welcoming The Dragon Year

Every CNY, we will balik kampung to my grandma's in Malacca. This year is no exception to us, although my cousins will not be around. Their grandma (their father's side) passed away recently and it's a custom to not celebrate CNY the following year. Since they can't celebrate, give and receive any ang paus, the whole family decided to go to Genting instead! Bestnya..

Hubby, Aleesya and I headed to Malacca on the eve of CNY. It took us about 2 hours from Nilai.. The traffic wasn't that bad, but there was so many cars; it slowed us down a bit. We stayed at the same boutique hotel in town (3 years in a row already), just so we can roam around Dataran Pahlawan, Mahkota Parade and the new mall opposite Dataran Pahlawan (alamak, sudah lupa) for our last minute shopping.

That night, we met up with my family (my mom and my sis' family) and had our dinner at the famous Sungai Duyung. Much had been said about their seafood, but it's just word of mouth.. Nothing to shout about la, rasanya kat Bagan Lalang lagi sedap.. We were soooo disapointed by the food and the service... we had to line up for a table, and waited some more for someone to clean it, had to line up again to order and waited some more for the food to come.. and finally when it arrives, it's not like we expected.. huhu.. There's always first time to everything kan? And last time too... So, this is the 1st and last time for us here...

Average Attention Span

Aleesya was playing masak-masak last night and she served us : Nasi Ayam Bunga, Bebola Daging Aiskrim, Ikan Goreng Mommie, Telur Masak Bubur, Air Daun Tempe & her famous Nasi Goreng Butterfly. She named the dishes all by herself.. Wahhh, Boleh menang Materchef's Invention Test la macam ni.. Tergelak2 Ayah and Mommie with the name of those dishes.. I myself xmakan tempe, so it's a surprise how she knew tempe existed.. hehhee, pengaruh Astro la ni. It's obvious we watch AFC channel wayyy to much.. Tp xpandai2 jugak masak, asyik2 the same old dishes.. hahaha!

Aleesya is also picking up a lot in school now.. Singing the school anthem (Krista..krista...) and a few other songs (I am special, I am special...) with actions somemore. Alhamdulillah, finally she can adapt to the new change!! Except every morning, memang akan ada drama menangis jugak.. regardless Mommie baca doa or not, it will happen.. huhu. Mommie dah macam bomoh pulak, terkumat-kamit baca and hembus2 kat Aleesya.. What to do la kan, kita ikhtiar dan usaha je... after all, it's for our own kid.. =) Teacher Nur cakap Aleesya dah start masuk her own class... before this, ikut suka hati die nak masuk whichever class she wants.. sometimes 5y class, sometimes 6y... xpadan dengan kecik!! But, the same thing happen when she was in iPlay, she is more comfortable in the i-Kds class that the teachers had to upgrade her to the class before she hit 2 years old. She is more comfortable with older kids and she likes to be challenged..

At home, she would make us read nursery rhymes and Peter and Jane books over and over again.. And she loves doing jigsaw puzzles, she never seem to get bored of that! In a way, it helps her to be more patient because it's a trait that is lacking in her. (She got it from me, btw) I read that by reading nursery rhymes to our kids and solving puzzles, it can improve their concentration and memory skills. It also lengthen the average attention span of your child towards a certain thing/activity.. Before, Aleesya can only sit put for 2-3 minutes before she dashes to another thing to do.. and I am left alone to clean her mess. But now, she can easily enjoy and finish an activity (average of 5-7 mins, sometimes longer when she really enjoys it) that we do together, and also help clean up the mess.. yay! Anyway, I was thinking of sending Aleesya to swimming classes in school. It's in the morning once a week and I know she'll love it. It will be fun to see Aleesya able to swim and how cool would that be???? But, I'm not sure whether the instructor can handle this cinonet. She has become sooo lasak nowadays, even my sisters say so.. kalah my nephews!! And she's soo brave.. she'll be the first to try anything and my nephews will then follow.. hahaha. A born leader she is! OK, back to the swimming issue - Hubby is quite worried that by adding the class, it will overpack her schedule.. Hmm, that's true.. maybe I'll just wait for another year.. In the meantime, we'll just play in the plastic pool at home for now..

Separation anxiety disorder

Yesterday, Hubby and I spoke to Teacher Nur, Krista principal about Aleesya. We are worried that her crying would continue on. Teacher Nur explained that she too cannot understand why Aleesya is crying because she's the only one crying and that the teachers are treating her well and very kind to her, trying their best to coax her whenever she cried. And everything is in proper order. She also added that Aleesya was behaving very well that day and that she is improving day by day. Her take on this is that she needs more time to adapt, probably because she's the youngest.

Before, every single day, we would ask Aleesya why doesn't she like school and I often get crying as her answer. No matter how many times in a day we ask her (after pickup, after bath time, before bedtime) we still get the same answer, she will start to cry... huhu.. But, she seems happy yesterday, so we decided to ask her in the car. We asked "Aleesya, kenapa Aleesya selalu nangis kat school?" and she replied, "Cha-cha nak go work jugak!". We asked her whether she is mistreated is school, and she said NO! Whether she is being bullied, and she answered NO! Whether her teacher has done something to her, and she answered NO! So, what's the problem, we asked her again.. She simply answered, "Cha-cha sedih, Cha-cha nak Mommie and Ayah. Cha-cha nak ikut go work!".. Hmmm, there u got it! Could it be that the one and only issue she have in school that makes her cry is that she JUST WANT HER MOMMIE AND AYAH? It's cute when u come to think of it, but Aleesya darling, u don't need to cry so much.. We are always here for you. Patutlah every morning masa tengah siap2 tu, mesti Aleesya tnya, "Nak pergi mana ni? Jalan-jalan kan? Bukan skool kan?" She's afraid we're gonna leave her... huhu..

I'm guessing she's just experiencing some SEPARATION ANXIETY. Which is funny, sebab when I was pregnant with her at 5 months, I too experience anxiety, severe anxiety attack smpai xboleh tido for 2 weeks that my doctor gave me medical leave just to stay at home and rest. I went on google, did some research and found this -> taken from here

Anxiety is a normal and common part of childhood. In most cases, anxiety in children is temporary, and may be triggered by a specific stressful event. For example, a young child may experience separation anxiety when starting preschool or kindergarten. Or a child may see a scary movie or learn about a tragic news event and have trouble sleeping.

In some cases, however, anxiety in children can be persistent and intense, and can interfere with a child’s daily routines and activities such as going to school, making friends, or sleeping. When anxiety in children is constant and serious, and doesn’t go away with reassurance and comfort, it is classified as an anxiety disorder.

Aleesya falls under this category -> Separation anxiety disorder. Toddlers frequently experience separation anxiety when a parent or caregiver leaves the room. As children get older and attend daycare, preschool or kindergarten, they can experience separation anxiety when they are dropped off by mom or dad. Separation anxiety usually goes away as children become acclimated to their new environment and caregiver or teacher. But even beyond kindergarten, a child can have trouble being separated from a parent and may experience excessive distress or anxiety. Grade-schoolers who have separation anxiety disorder may be reluctant to go to school or sleep alone. Children with separation anxiety disorder may also fear that something bad will happen to their parents or themselves when they are not together.

I'm not 100% sure that Aleesya is experiencing separation anxiety disorder and we're not going to conclude on that alone. So, we did what we had planned earlier and went to visit a newly operated daycare nearby to Aleesya's current daycare yesterday. We brought Aleesya along to see her take on it. She seems to like it, exploring every corner of the premise but she wasn't friendly when introduced to the teachers there. She quickly hid behind my back..The daycare is equipped with safety gates, cctv and other safety measures which I really like. I pretty much am happy with the daycare, except I am worried that Aleesya would miss her daycare friends and she'll be all alone here when she transit from her kindy. Issues lagi... adoiyaii.. Anyhow, this daycare will be our "standby daycare" for now if Aleesya's behaviour still continues...

I asked my sister for advice on how to handle Aleesya's problem. She told me to recite some Quranic verses to help ease Aleesya's discomfort in school. So, today I tried it on Aleesya on our way to school. I hugged her and held her tight, slowly patting her chest and recited Al-Fatihah and Qursi again and again till we reached school. Amazingly, no cries or drama this morning.. Instead she smiled, kissed my hand and went straight inside to be with her friends.. She even waved us goodbye at the window which is a good sign, compared to every other day where she would scream her heart out seeing the sight of us leaving.. Syukur Alhamdulillah, I feel so much better leaving her today...

Hubby and I haven't decided on anything yet. We're just gonna wait till the end of the month and decide later. If it's separation anxiety that she's having, then we'll try our best to handle it the best way possible. If there's other issues involved, then we'll try to find a solution to all of them. Till then, we'll never stop praying and hoping that Aleesya will adapt and love school.. AMIN

FUNTIME : How to Make Henry the Octopus

Just sharing what Aleesya and I did last funtime - Henry the Octopus. All u need is a paper plate, scissors, some glue/sticky tape and color pencils/crayons, of course.

Step 1 : Fold the paper plate into half

2. Then cut in into 2 like the pix above
(owh sorry, my cutting is bad...)
U will have 2 sections

3. Take one section and cut it to make the octopus' tentacles.
Another section is used for it's top.
Glue them together and it's ready for colouring..

4. Pick a colour...
(any colour but black.. please!)

5. Draw in the eyes and a smily mouth to make it more realistic

6. Start colouring to make it pretty!

And there u have it, Henry the Octopus.
(Aleesya didn't finish colouring, was too tired with all the fun!)

Is it NORMAL?

Aleesya is still crying at school during drop-off, and it would continue for a while till she forgets about it.. and resume back when she remembers about it. Huhu.. kesian anak Mommie. Teacher said, she cried and vomitted yesterday... huhuh. Is it NORMAL for kids to cry that long? Yes, for the first week is acceptable, but it's already week 3 and I'm worried... or does she need more time to get adjusted to the new environment? If yes, how much longer????? It just breaks my heart to send her to school in tears every single day...

I can see that she doesn't fit in well at her new daycare... and she even told me so.. but when I asked her why, she kept quiet and started crying. Oh baby, why why why?

Am looking up a few other options for Aleesya... huhu. Probably a new daycare.. the thing is, finding one that is the closest to Taska iPlay's standard is tough... huhu, I miss that place!

Please let it be a better place for my dear Aleesya... AMIN

NAIF ZIZAN

Who is NAIF ZIZAN? Aleesya's been going on and on about Naif Zizan... Naif this, Naif that... "Jom Naif, kita naik atas," she would say or "Naif, jangan buat macam tu!" tengking pulak die. At first I thought Aleesya has an imaginary friend. It's normal kan at this age, it's kinda creepy though... But, bila dah lama-lama tu, tengok-tengok she named her toy Rabbit "NAIF". So, I thought she's just bored and needed a friend to play with.. (kesian, nak adik sangatlah tuu)

But when Ayah kept asking Aleesya who is Naif.. She blushed and say, "Naif-lah".. Ayah korek punya korek, rupa-rupanya it's a friend at school.. I'm not sure whether his name is Naif but probably it sounds like it.. (Ada ke orang letak nama anak Naif?)

I think Aleesya has a crush at her school.. hahaha. Her very first crush? HAHAHA... Young crush.. alahai, comel!!! siap angau-angau lagi... hahahha

Princess Cha-Cha is 34 months..

Believe it or not, my baby girl is 34 months today.. that's 2 years and 10 months u ols!! Wow-weee.. Aleesya still is the same manja girl, very cheeky and very much the princess in Ayah and Mommie's eyes.. U're gonna be 3 years in 2 months baby.. yeay!!

Today, Ayah and Mommie got some treats for Aleesya to hand out to her friends at school...It's also an attempt for her to make more friends.. My sis said, "aik macam rasuah je".. hehe, rasuah ke? no lah, it's merely for fun for the kids to enjoy...

Touching on school, Alhamdulillah Aleesya is adapting well in school.. cuma pagi2 tu memang akan nanges sebab we all tinggalkan her... kesian sangat, but Hubby said that's the best for her.. Kalau layankan sangat, nanti she will never learn to be independent and brave.. I agree, but she's just a kid kan.. huhu... Guess, Mommie have to learn to let go too!

As for Mommie pulak.. so far so good at my new working place. Loving it here and taking it one day at a time.. Everyone's really friendly and warm, but first impression can be deceiving... I'm prepared not to make the same mistake again. This year, one of my new year resolution is to avoid/ignore unnecessary drama especially in the office place.. Just do my own thing and hopefully xde lah org kacau.. Insya Allah.

The best thing is : Carpooling to work with Hubby, we get to spend some quality time together talking about crap like we used to... hahaha.. Rasa macam baru-baru kawen plak.. hahaha

Alhamdulillah... It's a great start for the new year and hope it stays that way! Insya Allah

1st Weekend Activity of 2012

On new year's day, Ayah had to work.. Boo-hoo! So, I decided to have a weekend activity on MONDAY! We managed to have 2 activities in one day.. First, I made Aleesya practise her colouring skills - help her color between the lines. Si kecik ni still color comot-comot andd loves to use 1 color only - BLACK! Ya, hitam itu menawan sayang, but it doesn't do justice on the picture.. huhu

Last Saturday, I brought Aleesya to my sister's at Putra Heights to visit her cousins. Fun time with cousins, yayyyy!! It's another reward for her for behaving at school.. hehe. Plus, I have a Herbalife appointment with a customer nearby that area..

Aleesya was sooo happy to see her fave cousin, Baby Hashim. Tak berenggang la.. kejap2 nak hold his hands.. comel je!

Aleesya's First Few Days at School

On the 4th of January, marks Aleesya's first day of school at Krista Kindergarten.. One week prior to that, we sent her to the daycare to get her adjusted to the new environment. Memang menanges la si kecik ni, xbiasa. huhu..

Below is the photo of Krista Kindergarten that Aleesya is attending. Krista Kindergarten yang ni, school tempat lain, daycare die tempat lain. So, kene transit la, but it's just close by.. so, oklah..

Hubby and I was on leave on her 1st day to school, so we were there for Aleesya to give support.. Mommie plak yang berdebar-debar, rasa macam Anak masuk Uni pulak.. The day before, we went to meet up with the Principal, Pn Nur to get more info on the 1st week of school.. What we should expect and etc, etc.. Persediaan la katakan..

The night before, seboklah mengecop nama anak kat buku-buku. Ayah semangats, siap buat rubber stamp nama anak lagi.. comel! Mommie xpenah ada rubber stamp nama, masuk keje govt barulah ader.. huhu

So.. the day came.... jeng, jeng, jeng! Before we reached the school, Aleesya was so pumped up to go to school.. Semangat sangat! But, once we reached there, she was surprised to see so many kids (mostly ex-students) playing and wandering in the class.. She became quiet and clingy.. Alamak!

We were brought to her class to get her settled down. And her teacher gave everyone some clay to play with. She was soo shy, she only played with her Ayah, ignoring her classmates and her Teacher. huhu..

We stayed for 1 hour or so in the class with her, and there were signs of crying already. She held on me tightly, not wanting to let go and shout out "Ayah" constantly.. Sedih sangat rasa. We waited for another 30 minutes outside before we decided to leave and check on her later...

She loves colouring... currently, she loves the colour black. Semuanya nak colour in black.. xcantek la and xnampak la gambar tu. Even her teacher perasan, and told her to choose another colour.. hahaha.

2nd day of school : Still crying, we're still worried.. Her principal mms-ed me this pix of her.. Spot the fashionista, the only one wearing the school cap in class.. Teacher said, sooo hardworking.. Alhamdulillah, lega sikit hati.. I like that Aleesya's school Principal keeps me updated on Aleesya's progress and condition, it makes me feel at ease and I know that she's in good hands... =)

On her 3rd day of school : Still more cries. Every morning, we had to send her to the daycare first before her teacher transits her to school at around 8am. Sebok nanges2 nak pergi school terus, xnak pergi daycare... School xbukak lagi la sayang! Hadoiyaii...

Pickup time today, her Principal and teacher informed us that there is improvement already..No more constant crying dah... Aleesya starts making friends and is trying to adapt.. Yeay!! Principal siap cakap, "Boleh buat pulut kuning!" hahaha.. We both are so relived by the news.. We decided to bring her to Mc Donald's (her fave place) for dinner as a reward.. =)

I know Aleesya loves school. She just doesn't like the idea of being left alone, especially by her parents. More specifically, her Ayah. This year, we carpool to work, so Ayah gets to be around when sending Aleesya off. Aleesya is so used to me sending her, so that's not an issue. But, when she sees her Ayah and her Mommie, both sending her and leaving, it sure is tough for her.. Kesian anak Mommie. We're giving her a month or two for her to get the hang of it.... Insya Allah, Mommie believe that u can sayang!

Aleesya is afraid of CATS.. she'll scream her heart out if she saw one close to her. Lagi2 when we dine out, and there are cats under our table, or cats asking for food. Teros histeria la anakku! Once there was this cat, siap climbed on my lap, asking for food.. Of course, I jumped for a second there, terkejut punya pasal. But, Aleesya... she shrieked at the sight of it, making a scene. Terus potong je nak continue makan.. huhu!

So, no more hawker stalls or makan tepi jalan after this, we all kena dine at fully air-conditioned cafes or bistro saje.. where no cats are allowed. Adoiyaii anak! Pening kepala pikir mana nak makan now.. Guess Mommie have to cook everyday la camnie..

Alhamdulillah, sending Aleesya to school this morning was such a breeze.. Her friends were already waiting for her at the front gate. OK, giler glamer my anak ni! Biasalah, "the new gal" always gets the most attention kan.. hehehe. She pouted, salam and waved me goodbye before running to her friends.. I think the "pout" tue saje je nak bagi Mommie rasa like bersalah tinggalkan die.. huhu.

She got home this evening with all 5 fingers on her left hand painted in INAI.. Sukalah die main grooming2 ni, pandai teacher2 pujuk ye... hehehe. I'm just glad she's happy. Can't expect too much from the school yet, it's just wayy to soon. Hoping that everything will be alright.. AMIN

A rocky start at her new school

This morning, we decided to send Aleesya to her new school.. not yesterday, because she was feeling under the weather and Hubby was on leave, so we thought of delaying it for one day.. But, we went over to send Aleesya's stuff to her school that morning and she wasn't excited at all.. I sensed that this is gonna be tough!

We chose to send her to Krista Kindergarten in Nilai. There are 2 centers in Nilai, and we surveyed both before deciding on sending her to the 2nd branch which is a bit further away from our home, but cleaner and more child friendly. Krista offers a great education using the hollistic education approach for young ones aged 3-6years. I immediately fell in love with the syllabus they offer for 3 years old which is the Play House programme. It's not too tough nor too easy.. They have books and lotsa fun activities for the whole year and I'm sure Aleesya will love it!

Honestly, Hubby and I just want Aleesya to be happy and have a great time in school.. She's (going to be) 3 to begin with, so there's no point of pushing her too academically.. But, Aleesya is a smart girl and she picks up things very easily, so it's a shame to not make her love the idea of schooling and at the same time enhance her knowledge and social skills... We hope we did the right decision on choosing Krista for her. Insya-Allah.

But, Krista is wayyyy different than Taska iPlay. There's no air-conditioned rooms, or water heater in their showers.. so, it'll be an entirely new experience for Aleesya from the norm. And I hoping that she can cope quickly.. We even started training her to take her bath every morning since last week so that she'll skip the morning shower at school.. (I'm still kinda uncomfortable with the fact of kids showering with cool water in the early morning... huhu..) - that's just me! OK, I already miss Taska iPlay so much...

Back to this morning's story - it was a really emotional one. She cried, pulled and didn't wanna let go of me.. I tried my best to stay calm and collected when all I wanted to do was take her home.. huhu. I even sms-ed my hubby asking him whether we've made the right choice.. =( After spending about 45 minutes with her (consoling her), I reallly had to leave for work. Aleesya was crying and her new teacher was the one consoling her pulak. I kissed her, took one last look at her and went straight into my car.. I was almost in tears!

I drove away thinking about Aleesya and almost turned back to pick her up.. Then her teacher send a text message 15 minutes later saying that Aleesya has stopped crying and that she is playing with her new friends.. I need not to worry much because she will take care of Aleesya like her own.. Phew, i felt somewhat relieved but not entirely..

I know the first week at a new school is always tough, but I am hoping that Aleesya will re-act better tomorrow.. AMIN.

Things like this make me wanna quit and stay at home.. =(

Last Friday was Aleesya's last day at Taska iPlay.. she will be starting at her new school tomorrow.. I was feeling kinda sad leaving the place, as Aleesya has been there for more than a year.. Without a doubt, the teachers in Taska iPlay have play an important role in shaping her the way she is today... and I can't thank them enough... Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!

Tomorrow, Hubby and I will be sending her off to her new school. Aleesya seems happy and eager to go to her new school. But right now I am worrying like crazy. Can she cope? Will she be able to make new friends? Will she have as much fun as her previous school? Huhu.. Hubby says I worry too much and that I shouldn't be because Aleesya is a big gal now.. =)

I pray and hope that Aleesya can cope with the new environment and make new friends easily. AMIN. I know she's gonna experience major changes but I do believe that change is good! (And that's not speaking on Aleesya alone..) Insya Allah, may the change(s) benefit us and bring lots of joy and happiness to our life.. AMIN

Last Monday, Aleesya and I went to my sister's place in Putra Heights to visit her kids. Aleesya dah rindu sangat nak jumpa baby Hashim.. and it's always fun to see her play with her cousins. We then decided to go out for lunch, so sumbatlah the whole bunch dalam Avanza my sis and off we went. My nephews started to ask me questions on the Chinese zodiac and this is how the conversation went..

Amin : Ayie-Na tahun apa?
Me : Ayie-Na dog.. Amin tau Amin tahun apa?
Amin : Amin tau.. Amin monkey sama dengan Po-po..
Me : Uncle Kerol pun Monkey jugak... sama dengan Amin.

I've made plans to do fingerpainting this weekend, but Aleesya wanted to do craft instead.. So, I decided that we make our own TIARA, since she loves being a princess.. She liked the idea and was so excited! So, this morning, I started preparing the stuff for the activity before she got up (stuff like manila card, stamps, coloured paper, some beads, scissors, glue, etc etc..)

We had our simple breakfast first (I made french toast), our bath and then proceed with our activity for the day.. Enjoy the pix... =)

Alhamdulillah, dah 2 weeks Aleesya minum susu Pediasure Complete ni.. Not fully la, still maintain susu Dutch Lady 123 but at least twice a day I will give her Pediasure formula.. Kat school minum Dutch Lady, kat rumah minum Pediasure.. Mommie xmampu la nak bagi fully Pediasure.. huhu.. Dutch Lady 1kg baru RM20+, Pediasure tin sedang 900g is RM67.. WAHHHH!! So far, her appetite has improved within a few days of consumption.. semua benda die nak makan.. xde pilih-pilih dah except kacang sebab she said takut tercekik!! HELP WANTED : School hunting in Bangi.. Any recommendation of a good school?

It's confirmed! I'll be working in Bangi starting Jan 2012.. There's just too many issues at my current workplace that I can't take it anymore.. So, when the opportunity to do something about it rise, I took it as a sign and went for it.. Alhamdulillah.. Berkat doa dan usaha keras, Insya-Allah impian akan tercapai.. I am so happy and am anticipating great changes and a new beginning in the year 2012.. Thank You Allah

So, school hunting for Aleesya starts again.. Luckily I haven't re-register with Taska iPlay yet.. Honestly, I feel sad that Aleesya can't continue at iPlay, because she seems so happy there.. It's just too far away from my new office.. I can't seem to find a good school for Aleesya that is the most similar to iPlay's standard. Even the new Brainybunch campus in Precint 15, Putrajaya is 2nd place in my list. The concept is the same (open space) but it's keluasan is only 1/4 from iPlay.. What I'm trying to say is, to me, iPlay still is the best.. and I bet Aleesya thinks so too!

I'm running out of time and have to decide on a good school by year end.. Any recommendations of a good school (fullday) in Bangi (preferably in Section 8 or 9)..

Taska iPlay : A new management

Starting 1st December, Taska iPlay is under a new management - the same management that operates Kinderland in USJ, Subang Jaya. There are a lot of changes that have been going on since the change - new teachers, new rules, new approach, new this and that. We parents are given a choice as to continue sending our children for next year or to withdraw..

The first change is of course, the fee! The new management have revised the price.. alamak! At first, I was taken aback by this, but after surveying a few schools with the similar fee, I still think iPlay is the best choice in terms of facilities and comfortness. And when I had a long talk with the new principal/the person in charge, they seem very keen to make improvements and these can be seen in only a week. Quite impressive huh? I was also very impressed with the new teaching approach they are introducing and the number of teachers that they have now. I like the most is that they are using English as the medium.. yeay! Although Aleesya can speak very well, but it is mostly in Malay and she only speaks a little bit of English though she understands it. So, I saw this change as a good thing for her.

Honestly, I have my eye on another school for Aleesya but I know Aleesya's needs are important too for me to make my final decision. Hubby insisted that we stay since Aleesya is comfortable there and she looks happier now in school.. She comes home from school, teaching me what Teacher Wanie taught her that day..

Btw, here's the new fee structure for full day programme (I have for govt servants rate only. for private sector, there's a additional charges):

hahahahahaa... What's up with kids and sepuluh ringgit? My nephews and friends' kids would give the exact answer.. "Sepuluh ringgit". Is it because at the moment they can only count till 10, so the number 10 seems big to them.. hahaha.

Whatever pun.. now Ayah and Mommie uses that 10 ringgit trick on Aleesya to getaway from buying her unwanted stuff or stuff that she already has.. hehehe.. Jahat la kami!

The Weekend..

I really love the weekends.. That's when I get to spend quality time with my princess.. I feel like she's growing up soo fast.. she'll be 33 months this Sunday, and before I know it, she'll be 3 years old in March.. Wahhh

Although I love lazing around in front the telly and do nothing on weekends, Aleesya won't let me do so.. It's as though she knows it's an off-day and she can have fun activities with Ayah and Mommie.. hahah. Owh, have I mentioned before that she know the days of the week? Both in English (Monday-Sunday) and Malay (Isnin-Ahad).. but she gets confused sometimes.. haha!

I didn't prepare our weekend activity beforehand this week, so I had no idea what to do.. so, I made her to choose either we do colouring, dancing & singing or we practise using the scissors properly. Guess which one did she pick? Yup, the last one!

So, I lay our toto at one corner for easy cleaning afterwards and gave her the kiddie scissors and some sheets of riped magazines for her to practise. She was so tied up with what she was doing that I could have a 10 minute break of dunking my Oreo in milk in peace. (Mommie needs some time off too!) Here's some pix of her having fun!

On Sunday, we were invited to 2 weddings. One in Nilai and another in Bagan Lalang. Before, when we were invited to severals weddings in one day, we would only choose one because it's a bit tough to handle Aleesya, with the heat and all. But now, we decided to go for it! Aleesya was all smiles when we tod her that we're going to 2 weddings.. She kept saying, wedding-wedding? Aik, jamak plak!

After the wedding in Bagan Lalang, we decided to stroll along at the beach since it's so nearby. Owh, bad move. We were surprised to find that the beach was soo filthy and smelly.. It is soo upsetting for us. We only took a short walk for the fun of it and went straight home.. We didn't even stay for dinner because the smell was unbearable.. urghh! Is the smell and the dirtiness of the unkept beach caused by the resort nearby? Hmmm, I wonder...

HELP WANTED : A New Milk for the New Year?

Aleesya is sick.. again! I don't know whether it's the weather to blame, or it's her antibody or I am failing as a mom.. (sobs!) but, I know that I have to do something about it. Last year, one of my new year resolution was that Aleesya would be free from being admitted. It was smooth sailing for a while, but she was admitted anyway last October due to high fever..

So, again, my resolution for next year is for her to be healthier and be admitted free. Insya-Allah.. Hubby and I have tried our best to care for her, but we can't stop the sickness from coming.. Ya, sakit itu datangnye dari Allah.. Tapi kita perlu usaha supaya kita dijauhi daripada sebarang penyakit.. Usaha itu tangga kejayaan (chewah)

So, that's my mission. I want to opt for a healthier lifestyle. And I need your help. Yes, Y-O-U! First things first, I am thinking of switching her formula milk. Currently Aleesya consumes 7-9oz of milk, 6 times a day. Right now, she's taking Dutch Lady 123 and Sustagen. I have no problem before, but I would like to know what other options do I have.. What kind of formula milk is your child taking?

Is there a formula milk that can give her the MAXIMUM protection she needs from infection, provides the nutrients that she needs and taste yummy at the same time? If possible, do state the price as well.. (Harus buat congak2 nnt..for budget purposes)

Piggy Back Ride

On Awal Muharam, we went to Seremban for Aleesya's checkup at KPJ (she was feeling a bit under the weather). Afterwards we had the famous cendol and rojak Hubby kept telling, but he mentioned it as Farouk but it's not. And now I've forgotten its actual name now! duh.. There was nothing much to do afterwards, so we strolled along the nearby taman/tasik..

Aleesya was all high spirited, celebrating Awal Muharam her way, donning her fave baju kurung. She loves wearing baju kurung.. and I love seeing her in them. She looks so girlish and sopan.. =) Sejuk je tengok...

But...... all the sopan-ness went away went she saw the playground at the taman. I had to take off her kain for her to play. hahaha..

Inappropriate Words

Aleesya's been picking out words from school.. some are inappropriate, like "AKU", "BONT*T, "B*B*" and the list goes on.. I've even caught her uttering those words to her friends at school and she even said it to Hubby and I when she has a temper. That's just shocking and unacceptable to us!

I personally dislike using the word "aku", although I know it is used widely in our society.. I don't think it's polite since we can replace it with the word "saya" or by using our own name to address it. It's fine if others choose to say it.. But, for me, I don't use it. I've been taught from my early days both from home and school to use "Saya" or my own name when speaking. I would want it to be that way for Aleesya too.. The same goes for other words as well, there's always a better word to replace it with...

The problem is... We can't stop other people to not use the word. And being a toddler, their best skill is to become a COPYCAT - What Monkey sees, Monkey do!. Those words can be heard from the TV, from the radio, people around us.. It's just hard for me to filter those unwanted words.. Since we can't change everyone but ourselves, Hubby and I are paying closer attention towards our language to set a better example for Aleesya.. even when we're really mad about something and those vulgar words are the ones always easy to be let out.. Easy said than done right? hehe..

I'm not sure whether it is a "phase" she's going through or anything but I've made some research and I found this : (taken from here)

The problem is that children sometimes say words at the wrong times, in absolutely the most alarming places. The words we wish they wouldn't say, or wish they wouldn't say when they do, can be grouped into five categories:

Names of body parts we consider private, plus their many nicknames :

Bathroom words and body products (poop, poopy, poopy head, pee-pee, etc., all frequently preceded by the word stinky)

Religion-related words (damn, hell, and God, for example)

Sexually charged words kids overhear when adults — or other children who have overheard adults exclaim them — use them as expletives (the "F" word and such)

Innocent words embedded in questions, observations, or statements without regard to social conventions, which are probably unknown to the child ("Do you have a lot of money?" "You are brown," "I don't like you because you walk with that funny stick.")

Why do so many young children say things that freak us out? As we all know, one of every young child's biggest projects is to get attention, because it's one of every child's biggest needs. Parental attention is crucial. Whether positive or negative (second-best, but better than nothing), children have as big a hunger for attention as they do for food.

One of the most basic needs children have is for a feeling of belonging, and having the attention of a loved one is the best indicators that he or she "belongs."

Preschoolers find it exciting to play with words. This is another form of asserting one's power. So join in! Make up silly words and rhymes. Parents often feel so pressured to teach their children how to behave that it's easy to forget that kids need to have fun, too.

The real issue is learning to respect the feelings of others. If certain words, questions, or remarks are likely to offend, children need to be taught to be thoughtful and to avoid saying them. Help your child to understand the link between the use of inappropriate language and a lack of respect during conversations with him and when incidents arise. Ignore some of what you hear, occasionally intervene to substitute acceptable silly words for those that are offensive, and share in the fun that your child can have with more appropriate words.

We explained to Aleesya that those words are not acceptable in our family and that we do not want her saying it again. And when she does, we would remind her again and again. Sometimes, she does it on purpose for attention, merely to get response from us. We told her that when she does that, she would upset both Ayah and Mommie and that she's a naughtie girl.. Now, when she say those words (intentionally or not), she would quickly apologize to us.. That's an improvement but there's more to be done... 'Coz there's no stopping her from exploring ne found words that are also inappropriate. Many websites suggested on having a Swear Jar - when anyone uses a curse word, they have to put a dollar in the jar. I think she's too young for that still..

For now, our only option is to monitor her on a daily basis, listening to every word she says.. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it right?

Universal Children's Day

My Mission : Introduction to Happy Food

Aleesya is such a picky eater. If she gets her way, she would choose fried chicken as her meal, and that's enough. She can have fried chicken everyday without complaining. It bugs me that she's not having the right nutrients from dairy, vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains and more. Her paed taught me to subtitute the normal cooking oil with olive oil in my cooking to provide fat in her meal. Fat is needed in growing children, but for us, too much fat makes us... err, FAT!

Recently, I've mixed her Dutch Lady 123 formula milk with Sustagen to help with her nutrient intake. But I know, relying on the milk itself is not enough.. I've gotta do something to make her want to eat the food she dislike now. I would have to make it look delicious or somewhat appetizing for her to enjoy it. My mission is clear - let's make happy food!

My first mission was to introduced her to eggs. The nutrients in eggs can play a role in weight management, muscle strength, brain function, eye health and more. I did a simple scramble eggs with a bit of salt and pepper, and to it with some soy sauce & black pepper. I placed it in my plate, sat beside her and in front of the TV and started eating it, without offering her some at all and ignoring her completely.. She stopped playing, looked at me munching away and slowly asked for some to try.. Yes, she fell for the trick.. I tried hard not to smile and gave her some. She tried a spoonful, then asked for more and ended up finishing it. Haha!!! I told her it was eggs and that if she really liked it, I would make more next time.. She nodded and say, "Next time Mommie masak lagi ok? Sedap!". I was so happy that I told Hubby and my mom about it... hahha. My 1st mission was a success!

Next, it was fruits. I did the same thing. I cut a few oranges and started eating it and telling her how sweet the oranges are. Being that miss-little-curious, she picked up an orange, placed in her mouth and started to suck the juice. She held on the orange and sucked on it for a few minutes till the juice from the orange was all dried up. Yeay!!!

Then, last night.. it was time for vege. I cooked sliced beef with brocolli with carrots for dinner. I proceeded putting the brocolli and carrots in her plate with her fried chicken and told her to finish it. At first, she pushed a side the green stuff and ate her chicken only. I decided to make up stories to make it interesting.

Mommie : Aleesya, do u want to fly like Tinkerbell?
Aleesya : Fly? wow... like Tinkerbell? (eyes grow wide)
Mommie : If u want to fly like Tinkerbell, u must eat your vegetables...
Aleesya : (start munching away) OK, nanti Aleesya can fly soooo high... with Tinkerbell, with Mommie, with Ayah...

Alhamdulillah, so far so good. Hehe.. I know I have a long way to go in introducing a variety of food to Aleesya. It's a step-by-step process but I'm determined to learn how.. for the sake of her health and well-being..

New Bike!

OMG, this was weeks ago. Ayah wanted to get Aleesya a new bike since she's been "showing interest" (ehem, berebut-rebut actually) to her cousin's bike each time we balik kampung. So, we went to Nilai Square, which is sooo close to home and got her one.

To be honest, I can't remember the last time I actually "really" celebrated Aidiladha. I think it was ages ago, perhaps before I got my period or something.. yup, that long...

This year, hubby's family planned to have korban in Perak and they'll be there till the end of the week. Hubby didn't wanna tag along because he pitied me, for having zero leave left, and I had to start work today, Tuesday that is, when everybody's still busy munching away the korban meat.. huhu, jeles! Hubby on the other hand, is on leave today.. wahh, mesti main PES smpai laptop meletop kat rumah.

My mom planned a small birthday celebration cum dinner for my sis, Zila in Shah Alam on Sunday. But, taking into Baby Hashim and my sis, Fara's consideration, I suggested that we have a bbq party instead at my place. It would be more comfortable for her and the baby. Hubby said ok, and everyone else said alright. So, we went for it. It was a very last minute plan, di malam raya.. Then, Hubby wanted to make rendang, nasik himpit & kuah kacang pulak.. from scratch yer kawan-kawan... ok, sgt semangat disitu! So, we had to find meat and the bahan2...

We headed straight to Tesco but couldn't find any meat left. And there's no more ketupat segera packets on the shelves as well as lengkuas.. alamak, xkan semua org nak buat rendang! Adoi.. We went to several mamak shops after that to look for the stuff, but nan ado. huhu.. We managed to get half of the supplies to make rendang & nasik himpit and kuah kacang.. but there's no meat to be found..

So, the next day after solat Raya, Aleesya and I went straight to Giant to search for meat... Mommie dah la nak cepat, si kenits ni pulak brought along her baby stroller and her baby kakak. She definitely slowed down my shopping. She got stares and everybody started to tease her.. hihi..

Finally, we got the meat but still no lengkuas.. huhu. We decided to go ahead with the cook-out anyway... Hubby told me to prepare all the stuff while we helped out with the sembelih process at our neighbourhood. And I did just that. I separated the kacang goreng from it's kulit and boiled nasik himpit and chopped other ingredients for the rendang. Hubby continued after that till everything is done. After 2 hours or so, we have homecooked rendang daging which we named it THE FAMOUS RENDANG KEROL and homemade kuah kacang - both made from scratch. Hebat kan Hubby saya?And not to mention, the nasik himpit boiled by Lina (ok, I did that by myself). hahaha..

My sis, Ida and her boyfriend Naqib came over afterwards. And they were a biiiiiiiiig help! It's tough to organize a makan-makan with a busybody toddler around. My sis kept her busy most of the time so I can do other stuff.. Phew!

My family came over just before Maghrib and we started cooking a storm. My mom, brought so much meat and fish and crab and sotong - I think she bought everything that was on Carrefoure's shelves. The guys was in charge of cooking, and the ladies, did the preparing & cleaning. We had so much to eat, everyone was happy and bloated.The kids had their fun messing up my home and even had their own colouring session. The main person of the night was definitely Baby Hashim. Everyone wanted to cuddle him and every 10 minutes or so, he was handed from one auntie to another... hahaha!

Although our Raya is not as meriah as others, we still enjoyed each others' company. And I personally think it's more meaningful that way.. Nothing speaks Raya better than being with your family and good meat.. =)

Macam Macam Cha Cha

Ever since Aleesya is diaper free, things at home gets more chaotic than ever. With her frequent toilet trips that we have to monitor, or else she'll just head to the toilet by herself (dah pandai bukak pintu ok), pee-pee on the floor and she'll wash her urine and private part with water.. which end up making the whole toilet wet, not to mention herself... macam mandi plak. A reason for her to main air la kan!

We still make Aleesya wear her diaper pants when we go out for long trips to avoid having to search for a decent toilet like crazy. Putting her on diaper pants is such a hassle now. She seriously doesn't want to be wearing any diaper at all.. Alamak, macam tu la pulak! Sometimes, we would have to force her into it, and she would cry and show her temper... sedihnye! There are times that she would take it off in the car as a sign of protest! hahaha.. And during the night, we had to wait till she is completely asleep before putting her on diaper. Just to be at the safe side.. Xkan nak kejut die bangun and pergi toilet in the wee hours.. hmmm..

Another thing, she dislike wearing PANTIES when she's in shorts or pants.. Alamak, apa kes nie Aleesya? She would only wear them when she's in dresses or skirts.. hahaha, macam2 la Aleesya ni.. Nie pon we have to force her to wear them... malu la Aleesya if xpakai panties!

Aleesya also has this weird behaviour.. she likes things in pairs or sets. Like if we were to change her top, we would have to change her bottom as well because it's in a set. For example, if she's wearing a Hello Kitty top and bottom set, and she stained her top while having her meal, we would have to change the whole attire from top to bottom.. or she'll cringe and say "Nanti tak sama, tak cantik!". Another example, if we were serving her food in her kiddie set, we would have to use the entire set and no mismatches. Like, it has to be in her Hello Kitty bowl, Hello Kitty cup, Hello Kitty spoon and etc.. etc..

Macam macam la Cha Cha Nurani nie.. Penat Mommie and Ayah melayan.. but these uniqueness makes u extra special my dear.. =) Mommie and Ayah loves u... Umm~mah

Alhamdulillah, the follow up check up went well. Doctor said she's fully recovered and has improved tremendously.. =) From now on, Mommie and Ayah must make sure Aleesya has a healthy diet to boost up her antibody.. Insya Allah.

We took the doctor's advice and switched her milk to Sustagen. Aleesya doesn't like it, so we mixed it up with Dutch Lady milk. Whatever it takes to make her stronger and healthier again.. =) She also takes Appetton once a day to increase her appetite and Scott's Emulsion for protection.

Last weekend, Aleesya requested for pasta. So, I cooked it the way she wanted. She finished a bowl of it! Boy, was I happy or what! When she was done with it, she asked for only the sause and finished it too, licking the bowl clean. She practically put her whole face in the bowl. And the next day, I made chicken soup for dinner. She finished 3 bowls of it. Hubby and I was surprised.. Hubby even chuckled and say, "Sedap ye Mommie masak Aleesya? Wah seronoklah Mommie. Anak makan licin.. Senang hati Mommie!" Aleesya nodded and say, "Sedaplah Mommie, sedap!" Awww.. =)

That's the best compliment ever! I'm smiling from ear to ear from last night till today.. =)

Admitted Again! =(

Aleesya was admitted last Wednesday night. She was down with high fever and cough since Sunday and did not recover since. She is very active during the day, but got very sick throughout the night. We wnt to the clinic on Sunday, then Monday again, and was instructed to re-visit if Aleesya's condition is the same after 3 days. So, we did that, on Wednesday, and got referred to KPJ Seremban for further inspection. In KPJ, after being inspected by the paed, we were told to admit her rightaway. I was reluctant at first, but we had no choice and we know it's for her best. So, we checked in the hospital that very night, at 10pm.

We spent 4 days there. Aleesya was given antobiotic jabs, taken chest x-ray and blood test, did her physiotheraphy and consumed medication. I was with her throughout it all. Hubby had to work, but he came to visit after work every night. It was painful to see Aleesya having to endure all this, but it seems after the chicken pox ordeal, her antibody became weak. (That's what her paed said) So, what Hubby and I have to do next is to tackle her appetite once again and ensure that she have a healthy diet.

Alhamdulillah, she is doing well now. Mommie and Ayah hopes Aleesya will be much stronger and healthier in each coming day.. Amin.

I am highly compassionate. And I made sure my daughter is too. I named her Nurani (means Compassionate). 'Coz people without IT is inhuman. Believe it or not, there's so many of them in the world today.. (sad)

Chicken Pox - Before and After

These pix were taken on the day Aleesya had chicken pox. We didn't have a clue she had it....

Until.... this pix! There was a bump on her upper lip.

And after 3 weeks of taking care of her, applying 7 bottles of calamine lotions, 2 tubes of acyclovir cream, 2 tubes of calamine cream and a small tupperware of homemade bedak sejuk made of daun semambu, Aleesya is fully recovered. Alhamdulillah..

The outcome.. Pox marks on her face - kesian anak Mommie.. Ini pun dah beransur compared to when she first had it. We apply vitamin E cream on her every single day and will start on Bio Oil pulak.

Pix below is taken yesterday. Aleesya with her friends... Aren't they all cute or what? They love posing for the camera. =) I'm glad that Aleesya is back in school... I'm sure she misses school and her friends so much.

As for Mommie, I managed to escape from getting infected by the chicken pox virus. Which is quite weird considering I haven't gotten mine at all in my whole 29 years... I might have a stronger antibody that I thought.. hahah. Having said that, I am relieved that everything (well, almost) is back to the norm...

Perkara pertama yang perlu kita fikirkan ialah pandangan ALLAH SWT terhadap kita, bukan pandangan manusia yang diciptakan oleh ALLAH SWT. Dan kita takkan boleh tutup mulut orang sampai dia mati..

Diaper Free in School Too!

Aleesya accidentaly peed on her carseat on our way home yesterday.. Alamak!! It seeems that she was not wearing any diaper.. when I asked her why, she replied, "Chacha dah besar, pampers utk baby je. Like Baby Hashim" hahaha.. cute!

Last night, we wanted to go out for a short trip to the store. I wanted to put her on diaper, just in case.. But she refused, and headed straight to the toilet to pee, convincing us that she won't pee anymore in the car... Bijak kan?

Aleesya is now diaper free in school too! Everyday, I would prepare 5 pieces of diaper for daily use. And, I was happy to find that those diapers were unused yesterday. This morning, her teacher said that Aleesya refuses to wear diaper at all, even during naptime. Her teachers are potty training her as well.. yeay!

Aleesya, Mommie and Ayah are so proud of you! (kisses...) Suprises comes in many many ways... When things aren't going well at work, my life as a Mother is doing extremely great! What more could I ask for? Alhamdulillah..

Last night, I told Aleesya to solat with me. Before, she always solat with Ayah while I take my bath. I could see her at the back of my eye that she was confused, because I was being soo quiet. Sampaikan bila I rukuk, she plak yang cakap, "Allahuakbar!" hahaha.. Maybe she thought Mommie lupa kot! Hahaha... Lepas solat, we recited our doa together, and Aleesya kissed my hand while I kissed her forehead.. Awww

I thought of getting her a pair of telekung for kids to encourage her to pray. And nak belikan tudung jugak.. Not to pressure my lil one, but just to nurture and educate her on the importance of aurat from young. It's her decision as when to wear it later on in the future.. Janji Mommie and Ayah dah terapkan nilai2 murni dari kecik lagi. Insya Allah..

On Monday, I was told by the skool's supervisor that there has been complaints from parents regarding Aleesya attending school already. There are disturbed and worried that their children might get infected as well. I tried to explain to the supervisor that we have gotten the approval from our doctor, but she said, she had no choice.. Well, I don't blame her and the parents.. I myself might re-act the same way too if the situation was the other way around.

So, on Tuesday morning, I drove Aleesya to my mom's in Subang before going to work. Mom is gonna look after Aleesya for a week. At work, I was feeling so weak and my sendi2 was in pain that my colleagues brought me to the clinic that afternoon. I had no fever (yet) but doctor suspected that I was, either infected by chicken pox too, having viral fever or extreme fatigue. I was advised to see a doctor tomorrow if my condition worsen.

That night, my body was aching and I felt so cold. I felt so weak to go to the office. I went to the clinic and got the same advice. The doctor couldn't confirm that I was infected by chicken pox until the pox appears. So, I was given antibiotics and pain killers to help with the pain and 2 days of MC. I was told to get some rest. Maybe I'll get the pox, maybe I won't. I don't seem to care anymore.

Rumours about me taking so-called long holidays for the fun of it has been circulating around office. For goodness sake, for all I know, I was being a good mom and taking care of my child. But, some people don't seem to understand that. So, today, whether I like it or not, I had to go to work just to make a stand although I feel like puking every hour.

I hate that some people thinks they know everything, that they are so powerful - they would control every move u make. I hate that I have to work with this kinda people. They have no heart, no soul, no consideration whatsoever. I am so pissed off now, I feel like murdering someone - NOT anyone, but just that "special someone".

There is a thin line between being a WORKAHOLIC and being extremely INCONSIDERATE. I would rather receive BEST MOTHER OF THE YEAR AWARD rather than BEST EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR AWARD.

You've been very lucky in life all this while. U should be very thankful for that. Because, I believe that God is Great, and You're Gonna Get Your Fair Share One Fine Day!! AMIN..

2 weeks leave

Aleesya is fully recovered. Alhamdulillah. On Saturday, we went to the doctor to get her approval whether Aleesya is able attend school or not. We don't want other kids to get infected. And she gave a thumb up. So, yay! This morning, Aleesya cried and made a huge scene when I left her at school. Ye lah, dah biasa duduk bawah ketiak Mommie for 2 weeks..

Yup, I took 2 weeks leave to nurse my kid. No biggie, it’s my duty as a Mother. Honestly, I can’t seem to understand that some people would find it very disturbing.. Hmmm, that’s just sad. Very sad. I would give up EVERYTHING for my kid, seriously!

I am actually glad that I took care of Aleesya during her time of need. I did almost everything for her, with the help from Hubby dearest of course. He’s such a sweetie, he’ll take charge of taking care of Aleesya when he gets back from work so I can do the cleaning (rendam baju segala with Dettol, doing laundry, cleaning the house, etc). He was tired himself but he knew I needed his help, after spending the entire day to Aleesya’s aid. He even hugged me one night and say, “Thank You for taking care of Aleesya”. It was the sweetest thing, I cried immediately after listening to that..

We detected the pox on Sunday night (read more on Day 1), and couldn’t do much after seeing the doctor but applying calamine lotion on her. The very next day, Hubby went all the way to Uniten to get some semambu shoots – that was said to help reduce the itchiness. He also came home early with some coconuts. We made semambu paste for Aleesya and made her drink the coconut water. She didn’t like it at all.. poor thing.

We were supposed to be quarantined for 1 week only as we weren’t expecting major pox to appear. But, on the 3rd day, when I realised that Aleesya’s pox doubled, we went straight to the doctor again. A senior doctor said that Aleesya needed 2 weeks to heal, and she is not permitted to attend school during that period. She was also given antibiotic to help the healing process. Alhamdulillah, Aeesya had no high fever during this sickness, only slightly feverish because she was teething as well. Hahah, she's a bit late huh? Finally, she's grown all her teeth.. =)
The few days of babysitting was quite challenging for me. I didn’t have time to shower nor eat – and there’s a pantang that no cooking is allowed during this quarantine period. The cooking sensation from the oil would somehow make the person with chicken pox more itchy.. I dare not break this pantang, so I ate whatever there is in the house. Plus, I didn’t have time to actually cook. We had tapau-ed food every night.

Aleesya was pretty cranky during the day especially after putting calaming lotion on her. There were times I had to put on some calamine lotion on myself to make it easier. And sometimes I had to run around chasing her to do so. I was not complaining, because I know she’s in extreme discomfort. Looking at her just makes me wanna cry. I myself haven’t gotten the pox, and I don’t really know that I could stand the itchiness too.. I would try to distract her by letting her watch youtube and playing with the webcam. And that’s why I pretty much was online, if some of you might ask! We would also spend the day taking lots of photos of ourselves being silly. Aleesya and I loves that very much... =)

During the night, we would lather thick layer of calaming lotion on her as well and Hubby would put her to sleep by sweeping gently the semambu leaves on her body. She would wake up a couple of times during the night, crying and complaining of the pain.. Huhu. The was once when we actually went to sleep at 4am... =(

The thing I worry the most was her lack of appetite. Aleesya didn’t want to eat anything but she still takes some milk. Thank god for that. She also didn’t want to put on her diaper. There were pox on her private part as well and there were making her itchy all over. Poor thing! So, every hour, I would ask her whether she wanted to pee or poop. It’s potty training 101 all over again. And, I can proudly say that I've potty trained her completely during this 2 weeks. She's diaper free now, only wears it when she's asleep (I have to put it on when she's asleep that is) and when we're out for a long period of time.. Yeay, well done Aleesya!

On Sunday, we had visitors. My mom and dad, mother in law and Hubby’s cousin came to cheer Aleesya up. She was soo happy!!! She also showed signs of recovery – most of her pox has dried up – that’s when the itchiness gets more hyper. And also during this period is the most infectious. I was scared that I would get it. So, I took 3 big spoon of Scott’s Emulsion every day to fight the infection.

We also started bathing her with air rendaman semambu + kunyit after a week long. Her hair was tangled up like “rastaman”. It was such a struggle to comb her hair. So, I decided to bring her to the saloon for a quick cut. I think she looks cute with her new Dora haircut.

Nway, on 3rd and 4th day of Raya, we were in PD for a short getaway.. Just to bring Aleesya to the beach and the pool.. She kept asking for it. We reached PD during lunch, and we couldn't find anywhere to eat due to the holidays... except for the kedai kopi Pak Lang in town. Thank god for that!

Yup, Aleesya has chicken pox. This whole weekend, we were monitoring her for HFMD but did not find any signs of it.. This morning, small spots started to appear above her lips and her tummy. And we thought it was mosquito bites.. Not till this evening, when I was bathing her that I found watery spots on her body (and 1 of them dah pecah.. Adoi!) that made me went, "Ohmigod, she got HFMD!"

We rushed her to the clinic for inspection and the doctor certified that she has chicken pox. Oh dear... I myself haven't gotten mine.. I managed to getaway with it twice by taking vaccination... But, this time, I've got no choice but to deal with it. It's my child I'm taking care of, no where to hide... I told the doctor and she smiled and say, Good Luck! hahha.. So, there u go, the chances of me getting infected as well is quite high.. Tawakkal je la...

Aleesya shows no sign of fever but is starting to scratch here and there. Ayah quickly apply calamine lotion on her as soon as we arrive home and I re-applied the lotion before she went to bed. We try to distract her from the itchiness by making it a fun experience. We took pix of it and I gave her my laptop to watch youtube, bagi die tgk puas-puas...

She seems pretty normal despite having the pox. I hope she'll continue being this way till she recovers... Amin.

Diaper On or Diaper Free?

Aleesya keeps changing her mind on whether she wants to go ahead with being diaper free, or diaper on.. most of the time, she refused to be on diaper, but she's not completely ready with it.. She'll make excuses saying that diaper gives her bum rashes or it's too tight or she doesn't like the design and stuff like that. Pening2.. We went from wearing Pet Pet and Mamypoko to Drypers just for the cute designs, and back to Pet Pet and Mamypoko. (And I have a a few packs of Drypers and other diapers stacked at one corner)

And when we do give in to her demands, she'll be peeing on the floor or poo-pooing in her pants without alerting us before.. grrrr! I get really mad with her! It's like whatever we taught her previously was forgotten or something.. It's so stressful!

That's when... I read a good article on Baby Center, stating this ->

The process of learning new skills is often "two steps forward, one step back." Regression is common in 2-year-olds partly because there are just so many new skills to juggle. They're also vulnerable to stresses that make them want to go back to familiar territory (diapers instead of that new potty) because it's more comforting. Be patient with little setbacks and remember that they're not permanent.

It's a bummer that this happened because she's sooooo close to be completely diaper free already.. I really hope this phase fades away soon, coz it's quite a challenge to educate her on potty training - AGAIN!

I posted the conversation on Facebook and my friends got excited for me! hahaha.. Honestly, I think she was referring to my sister's newborn, Hashim Addeen. Oh yeah! That lil bundle of joy decided to pop out on the same date as his mom's birthday, 11th September, 3 days after her due date.. How cool is that huh? He's as cute as a button, and I wish he was mine.. hahaha..

Welcoming another September baby is Aisyah, from my Hubby's cousin. Sadly, Aisyah is born with some complications due to spinal bifida. It's quite a serious condition, but both parents, family and doctors are doing their best to make it easier for lil Aisyah.. She is a real fighter and I hope she recovers soon. Amin

Hand Foot & Mouth Disease

Yesterday afternoon, I received an email from our parent support group alerting parents that his son was down with fever and suspected of having the disease. He informed the Taska, and for security reasons, the management decided to close for 2 days till Thursday. We are not sure if the kid was infected in the Taska or not, becase as of yesterday, there were no signs of other kids infected by it. I'm hoping that Aleesya doesn't get it...

So, today, I had to bring Aleesya to my office due to my overload work. I am compiling all the unfinished task to bring home and hopefully, I can settle it all by this weekend. Huhu..

Aleesya, on the other hand, loves being at the office.. bugging everyone in sight. She is so chatty and nosy, wanting to know what we were doing.. nyebok je! She became restless and moody around her nap time, and it took me 30 minutes to put her to sleep. She wasn't comfortable with her nap place and for no apparent reason, she ddin't want to put her diaper on.. and this is her first attempt to go commando, I'm so scared that she'll pee on my friend's mattress..

Our 1st Day of Raya 2011

This year, as usual akan beraya at my in laws' in Bangi. Malam Raya, we went there to help out the preparations for the big day. This time around, we didn't wait fot the takbir Raya, as Aleesya was really cranky and wanted to go home. Grrr..

Pagi Raya, I woke up extra early and got Hubby ready for the prayers. After that, sebok2 Aleesya and Mommie siap2 pulak.. This year, dah remind myself not to makeup before salam dengan Hubby, because last year it left smudges all over my face. So, siapkan Aleesya dulu, then tunggu Hubby balik baru salam2, then I got ready.. As usual la, nanges and berdrama is a must during salam time... tapi ikhlas minta maaf tu tau!

This year, we chose green as our Raya theme. Aleesya and Ayah wore the same cotton material, Mommie je lain sket the material. I wanted to be sedondon dengan Aleesya, but my kain xcukup nak buat baju kurung Aleesya.. It's ok, there's always next year.

Dah siap semua, we managed to snap a few pix before heading to my in laws. Aleesya looked super cute with two ponytails (Ayah yang ikatkan btw, pandai kan?)

At my in laws, we all bermaaf-maafan dengan semua family members and had our breakfast. My mom-in-law's special dishes - rendang limpa (Hubby's fave), rendang daging, rendang ayam and kuah kacang and cookies. Aleesya loves biskut Samprit and Almond London the best!

Bila dah balik kampung, Aleesya sebok nak main beskal la, keta la, kejar kucing la.. Siap tanggal baju semua, tinggal pampers je sebab dah berpeluh2. I had to bathe her again before we went visiting in the afternoon. Adoi!

The whole family headed to Seremban, rumah Pak Long. We stopped at A&W drive thru otw there to get Aleesya nuggets and fried chicken because she was so picky with the Raya food. Last year, boleh main sumbat je nasik himpit, but now, all she wanted was AYAM GORENG! Pengaruh Upin & Ipin betol la..

Most of the family members were there at Pak Long's. So, we hang out and chatted with one another, catching up on all the goss! Seronok tengok gelagat Aleesya and her adik sedara, Aiman. They are super adorable!!

The Sweetest Thing

Aleesya says the sweetest thing u can imagine.. For example, last night, when I was busy cleaning the kitchen after iftar, she wanted milk. So, I made her a bottle and told her to drink it in front of the TV, and I'll be right over as soon as I finished my cleaning. She looked at me and say, "Cha-cha nak tunggu Mommie lah. Nak tengok TV sama-sama Mommie, nak duduk dengan Mommie," Awww.... When I told her that I'm not finished yet and I'll be over soon. She replied, "Xpe Mommie, Cha-cha tunggu Mommie k..." That made me stop at instance and proceed to watch TV with her... Aleesya dear, u say the sweetest thing to Mommie.. =) U're Mommie's lil angel!

Hahahahaha...

Aleesya ni makin lama, makin petah bercakap.. sometimes her replies would suprise you crazy! hahahha... Alhamdulillah, Mommie and Ayah bersyukur sangat dengan kecerdikan Aleesya.. gigi sampai sekarang xpenuh-penuh lagi, but cakap mengalahkan orang besar... Sometimes Mommie and Ayah penat nak layan soalan-soalan Aleesya, lepas satu, satu, pot-pet-pot-pet.. It shows that the DHA in her milk is working.. hehehe!

After her recent high fever, she has lost her appetite and dah susut sikit to 12kg. She lost 1kg in less than a week. Kesian sangat. She became picky, she only chew on slices of chicken and would not swallow, but she would spit it out. Xtau la kenapa. Susu intake pon dah drop to 6oz, compared to 9oz. Mommie became so worried, teros belikan Appeton Multivitamins with Lysine, to help with her appetite.

1st few days, there were no changes. But, masuk hari ke-5, Aleesya started to eat as much as she used to again. Siap demand lagi nak makan pasta. So, yesterday, Mommie cooked her favourite pasta, 1 mangkuk besar habes, licin... and after that, she drank her milk 7oz, habes jugak. Wow, Appeton does work!

I bukanlah nak Aleesya jadi bam-bam sangat. Healthy cukup. Bam-bam sangat pon takut, nanti mcm2 sakit.. and Mommie pon xlarat nak dukung naik turun tangga when Aleesya tido. I plan to try Appeton Multivitamins with Taurine pulak for the brain and health.

Kasut Raya

This morning, Aleesya sibuk2 nak Ayah sarungkan kasut raya. It's a simple beige floral shoe Mommie bought for Raya, but dah 2 kali pakai sebab Mommie xpandai sorok. (haha) Dah xjadi kasut raya, but kasut puasa la... Puas Ayah pujuk suruh pakai slipper je pagi tadi, but she still wanted the shoe. So, we had to give in la, x elok pagi2 dah menangis.

During Ramadhan, I will drop by to my office 1st before sending Aleesya to skool. She loves coming to the office, walking around and greeting my colleagues. Today, she said, "Mommie, cepat nak pakai kasut tu. Nak show kasut to Auntie" Alamak, what a show off!And yes, she really did show her shoes to my colleague. Siap malu-malu lagi. hahahha... Luckily enough, my colleague ni, a Mommie herself, pon melayan la kerenah si kecik ni...

I just hope she doesn't do the same with her Hello Kitty sport shoes with lights tue.. Pengsan! Xsempat nak raya nanti dah xde lampu kelip-kelip tu.. habis bateri..
